Product Information:

Sculptra Aesthetic is an FDA-approved injectable biostimulatory filler made of poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA). Instead of simply “filling” lines like traditional hyaluronic acid fillers, Sculptra works by stimulating your body to produce collagen over time, gradually restoring lost facial volume — especially in areas like nasolabial folds and cheeks.

It’s most often used for age-related volume loss, and results develop over several months and can last up to 2 years in many patients.

How to Take:

• Only a trained medical professional should perform  injections — typically a dermatologist or plastic surgeon.                                            

• The product is first reconstituted with sterile water, then injected deep into the dermis or subdermal tissue using a specific grid (cross-hatch) or fanning technique.                                                          

• Because Sculptra works by collagen stimulation, full results appear gradually over weeks to months, not immediately like some fillers.        

• After injections, providers often recommend gentle massage of the treatment area multiple times a day for a few days to reduce formation of uneven lumps.

Dosage:

• A treatment course typically involves multiple sessions spaced several weeks apart (commonly every 4–6 weeks).                                 

• Per session: Often 1–2 vials are used (exact amount varies by face area and provider).                                                                                       

• Sometimes providers recommend up to 4 sessions, depending on volume needs and response.

Warnings:

Before Treatment

• Not recommended if you have hypersensitivity to components of Sculptra.                                                                                                   

• Should not be used in people with a history of keloid or hypertrophic scarring.                                                                                                         

• Pregnancy, breastfeeding, or under 18 years old: Safety isn’t established.                                                                                                    

• Do not inject into areas with active skin infection, acne, rash, or open sores.                                                                                                 

• Use caution or avoid if you’re on blood thinners, as injections can increase bleeding/bruising.

Side Effects:

• Swelling

• Tenderness

• Redness

• Bruising

• Pain at injection site

• Bleeding

• Itching

• Small bumps under the skin (often transient)
